The sequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2 was released on the Xbox in 2004 to much excitement from fans of the original game. It became a hugely successful game because it was purchased by so many new and old fans of the Halo name. Halo 2 introduces some new characters, weapons and vehicles as well as an extended level of intelligence from the enemies.

The game itself is like the original except improved in a number of ways including a supportable online multiplayer mode that can be played on Xbox live. This was a significant plus to the game especially because of the popularity of the rankings and it held the top spot of most played game on Xbox Live for a long time.

Although some fans believed that nothing compared to the original, most agree that Halo 2 is an extremely good game because even when the story mode has been completed, there are still other modes to discover and master. Featuring the game on Xbox Live makes the possibilities endless as there is always someone new to defeat.

Does Halo 2 Continue the Legacy

The fear about Halo 2 was would it continue on with the high standards set by the original game. Halo 2 was and is a highly entertaining game both as part of the series and standing alone. It could have a longer or more complex story behind it but it still manages to pull off the impossible and improve upon the success of the original Halo.

Single player modes ease the player into new weapons, vehicles and opponents while the enemies themselves are smarter and less predictable. Allies behave more naturally and perform the actions that the player really needs. Cooperative play allows friends to team up together while multiplayer still allows up to 16 players but this time they can play against people from all over the world.

The Xbox Live multiplayer options for Halo 2 are by far its greatest achievement as they allow the game to continue past the average length of game play and yet still have something new to offer by way of rankings, clans, teams and personalized armor. It is a good way to get to know other Halo fans and gives the game a truly competitive edge. After all, every fan wants to be the number one player as seen by the rest of the world. The graphics, animation, sounds, maps and game interactions make Halo 2 seem like an original battle every time and leave fans of Halo drooling for the next installment.

Everything you ever wanted to know about identity theft can be found on a number of identity theft blog sites that offer hints on how to protect your identity as well as what to do if you are the victim of identity theft. Caution is required here as well, as there are many blogs from legitimate sources, but unfortunately there are also criminals who may operate an identity theft blog with links to other bogus sites offering to help victims once they have received the needed personal information to get started.

Many ask whom they can trust and the answer, unfortunately, is no one. If you receive an email from your bank or other financial institution or from an identity theft blog providing a link to go to for a secure method of verifying information, you should never click on that link.

Instead, log onto the bank’s website through its regular address and look for information concerning any problems. Most banks will not accept personal information in an email and if there is a problem, the usually call. Any time information is needed, they will ask you to go to the bank to make the necessary changes.

By visiting an identity theft blog you can also learn about the scams used in the past as well as the new ones when they first become known. While none are considered better or more accurate than any other identity theft blog, you can find one out of many that offers the most updated information and provides addresses as well as phone numbers to call for help. Any attempt to get you information through unsolicited means should be reported to the company reportedly requesting the information.

It Is Your Information, Do Not Give It Away

You will have to offer personal information to conduct any type of transaction, but if someone calls on the phone or sends an email asking for information, all you have to do is say no. No respectable financial information will attempt to get information from you and common sense should tell you that if they called you, they already have access toy our file and should not need your input.

This information is available on an identity theft blog with comments from bankers saying that if they need to talk with you, they will call and either ask you to visit the bank, or call them back at the normal bank number.

Ever since the release of Pong, video games have captured the attention of both children and adults alike. A source of entertainment and sometimes controversy in the case of violent video games, this form of entertainment has made its place in the world. If you’re looking to play video games in your own home, you need to consider what you’ll be using to play them. Just as many games compete for market share, so do the game systems you play them on. Let’s look at some of these:

The Hand-Held Systems

The smallest of the systems for video games sacrifice the ability to display the most detailed graphics in favor of increasing portability. In the past, Nintendo has dominated this market with their Game Boy system, with their DS making their latest offering in the world of hand-held video games, a system that has two screens, one of them touch sensitive, allowing games to be played by pressing buttons or with the use of a stylus, like a PDA.

In contrast, Sony’s Playstation Portable, or PSP, offers a system that plays small discs, a system that plays both video games and movies. The system makes use of Sony’s Memory Stick technology to allow the use of flash memory to store movies downloaded to your computer for play on your PSP as well.

The Consoles

For those who want to include video games as part of their home entertainment system, there are several different options to choose from. The Xbox 360 came first in the latest generation of systems for video games, and currently has the largest library of new games. The Nintendo Wii brings a unique variation on traditional video game controllers, using a controller that looks like a remote control and is motion sensitive. While its library is smaller, the Wii boasts of several games that are great for families and groups of people to play. And Sony’s Playstation 3 promises great graphics, but at a price, over $600 for a new console. All three games feature some sort of backward compatibility with games from the previous generation of each company’s consoles, allowing people to purchase and play older games.

Personal Computers

Finally, both Macintosh and Windows-based computer systems are gaming platforms in their own right. Windows tends to be the system of choice for most developers, though Mac users aren’t out of luck when playing video games any more, with major releases coming out for both systems. Video games on personal computers are usually played with the keyboard and mouse for control, though you can always plug in a USB joystick and enjoy games that way. With so many options for playing video games out there, though, you’ll never be without some way to enjoy this form of entertainment!

Victims of identity theft very often are so flustered with loss of their identity as well as money, that they can become confused over what steps to take to get back on the road to recovery. There are different versions of identity theft worksheets available on the internet and each one is slightly different, but the common goal for all of them is to guide victims through the process of reporting identity theft.

The identity theft worksheets help victims organize their financial information to include banks, credit and debit card accounts and any records they have about recent financial transactions. Guidelines for reporting identity theft include filing a police report, contacting all three credit reporting agencies, Contacting creditors and filing a report with the Federal Trade Commission. Identity theft worksheets will contain spaces to include contact information about the name of the company, time and date of the call, name of the person spoken to and their telephone number.

If any checks were stolen, the bank should be notified and a stop payment put on any checks that cannot be accounted for. If there is no space on identity theft worksheets in which to submit a narrative about when the first incidence of identity theft was realized, a separate sheet of paper can be used to include as much detail as possible from the time the theft became known and include information about the steps taken to notify every person or company.

Never Submit Identity Theft Worksheets Online

Regardless of how fast you are trying to get information on the theft identity theft worksheets distributed, it is ill advised to provide unknown people with the facts and details about identity theft. Police will take the report in person and while the credit bureaus will need certain personal information to process the report, outside companies will have no reason to obtain certain identifying information, unless they plan to make your identity theft situation even worse.

Be extremely caution with people who call to talk about the issue. Unless they can confirm their identity, providing as little as possible is advisable. In many cases a return call can verify the call originated from a legitimate source. Do not use a number they provide, rather look it up in the phone book to be sure the right person is being contacted. Legitimate parties will understand your position, others will be upset at not being able to get more information.

Halo is certainly one of the most popular video games ever created. It has a very loyal following that not only waits with great anticipation for the next installment, but, has even gone to buying books and products with the Halo icon on it. The Halo 3 trailer is another exciting way to get ready for the third installment of the series of games.

Halo 3 Trailer: The Excitement Continues

The original Halo and its subsequent games were created by Bungie studios. The premise of the game has the underlying element of alien versus humans. The evil aliens are a group that calls themselves the Covenant. These aliens are seeking to discover a way to destroy all of the humans.

The humans are lead by a super human called “The master Chief”. He is a human with super strength, from being part cyborg. In the Halo 3 trailer, this human is once again leading the battle against the aliens. The battles center around a planet, which the humans have lead the Covenant too. In diverting the aliens from Earth, the humans are now forced to battle the aliens on this planet that they have named Halo.

The Halo series of games is exclusive to the Xbox gaming system. Many gamers have converted from other systems to the Xbox, in order to play this game. The Halo 3 trailer lets the viewer check out the advanced and exciting action that will continue to make this series a popular choice for gamers. The Halo 3 trailer pitches to gamers the same set of circumstances from the previous games, aliens versus the humans, but they have created new weapons on both sides. Watching the Halo 3 trailer gets players even more to look forward to, and excited for the release of the game.

The Halo set of games, has even spawned the idea for a set of movies. There have been numerous takes between production companies and directors over these games and future enterprises featuring them. There are action figures, books and even comic books with the characters from the Halo set of games.

The Halo 3 trailer has not only created excitement with players already familiar with the idea behind the games, but new players are also feeling the electricity surrounding these games. Halo will continue to be a game that attracts new players every year, and a long term hit for the studios that produce it.

Prior to the advent of the Internet, many video games were played alone or with just a friend or two, with limits imposed on the user due to simple matters of the right technology being invented yet. In modern times, though, the Internet and fast network connections make networking gamers together a snap, with MMORPGs, which stands for Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games, representing the pinnacle of this ability to play with large groups of people. What makes MMORPGs so fun and what can you do in them? Let’s explore this genre of games more closely.

A Persistent World To Explore

The forerunners of MMORPGs came in text-based form, where text was used to describe fantasy environments where people could pretend to kill monsters, fight with enemy players, or just explore a new environment. The addition of other users meant that something was always going on in these games. Now, with crisp graphics possible, MMORPGs such as the new release Lord of the Rings Online allows people to create detailed fantasy realms. In the aforementioned example, however, players can explore environments designed in homage to the lands from Tolkein’s famous books.

Cooperative Play

Other than adding its own life to a world, the different players in MMORPGs allow for cooperative play. Rather than explore a world on your own, players can team up with other players in groups of two or more. Some MMORPGs, such as the current winner for most popular MMORPG, World Of Warcraft, allow up to 40 players to band together to achieve goals in the game, or form large social groups known as guilds to enhance cooperation and create a social environment in the game. Part of the fun of these games is the social aspect, sharing the fun with others.

Creating Conflicts

One dynamic that’s popular in MMORPGs is the ability to enter into conflict with other players, known as PVP or Player Versus Player gaming. Most MMORPGs help to create an environment for this by separating players into several different factions. One game, however, City Of Heroes accomplished this with a release of a sequel to their original game, calling it City Of Villians. In the former game, players took on the persona of superheroes in an urban environment, in contrast with the usual fantasy environments of other MMORPGs. As the title suggests, the sequel allowed players to create villain characters that can battle with the heroes. So, whether your desire is to cooperate with other players or try to kill them, to run through fantasy environments or control a superhero running through a city, MMORPGs offer plenty for the modern gamer.

One of the worst feelings a person can have is finding out their identity has been used to open charge accounts or to make major purchases and they are out of money. The feeling of helplessness experienced is very real and some businesses always look at those denying being the one who initiated a transaction with skepticism. If a person has any reason to believe their person security has been compromised, they can contact several identity theft resources available through law enforcement and many financial institutions.

There is also information available online outlining the steps a person should take if they are the victim of identity theft. Many identity theft resources offer suggestions about what to do if a person’s identity has been used by an identity thief, as well as what to do if a person suspects their identity has been stolen but not yet used by an unauthorized person. These same sites typically offer suggestions of how to keep your information locked up against identity theft.

In many cases, the hardest part may be convincing people that personal information has been used by someone else, without consent or knowledge. Many react with skepticism about identity theft claims and once your identity is stolen even with all the available identity theft resources, it can be a long, sometimes expensive, road to recovery.

Keep Accurate Records Of All Communications

When reporting identity theft, keep an accurate record of every spoken to about the theft. Keep a copy of the police report that was filed as many creditors will want to see one before they take any steps to halt additional damage. Copies will likely have to be submitted to the three major credit reporting agencies, which may also offer identity theft resources for the victim to use.

To learn to protect information from identity theft, there are numerous suggestions, but as most will say it is more a matter of common sense. A person should never reveal any personal information to people they do not do business with. Banks often offer many identity theft resources outlining their privacy policies, as well as the fact that they will never trade information that could compromise someone’s information through online communications channels.

Lost PIN numbers and other account information can only be retrieved either at a bank location or through the mail. When in doubt about the security of your information, use all available identity theft resources to insure your information remains private and take appropriate steps to correct it if it has been used by a thief.

The hot topic concerning online use is old news according to the history of identity theft in the United States as well as other countries. While the victim still loses their money, their credit score and their reputation, at least they still have their health. In the early days in the history of identity theft the thief would usually kill the victim and assume their identity. Looking alike was only worrisome if someone had known the person since there were not too many requirements for a photo identification card.

As time passed, criminals learned they could obtain enough information about a person from the trash without the need for killing the victim. “Dumpster diving” as it is most commonly called, allowed them to obtain bank statements, credit card information and most everything else they needed to represent themselves as someone else. As the history of identity theft matured, thieves took to stealing directly from the mailbox, keeping an eye out on days bank statements usually went out. This method was just as successful but did not share the dirt that was evident in dumpster diving.

Telemarketing brought another wave of criminals into the history of identity theft as they could call people telling them they won a prize or were from a charitable organization calling about a donation. When they first started it was easy to convince people to give out personal information for verification purposes and then use it to open credit card accounts, buy houses and other forms of illegal financial transactions.

Internet Opens Doors Wide For Identity Theft

When people first started conducting transaction online, criminals found a new, more convenient method of stealing an identity. When hacking into banking sites became tougher due to stricter security controls, the history of identity theft was advanced by the most basic concept ever to plague the public - greed. The fear of not being able to conduct transactions online as well as correcting possible problems with an account, also make some people willing to share their personal information with identity thieves.

Internet service providers rarely conduct background checks on people who host a website, and many emails are sent telling people their bank account has been compromised and they need to click on a link to take them to the security department, which will verify their information and fix the problem. Even with the history of identity theft people still fall for this phishing scam and willing turn over their information without realizing what is going on until their account balances reach zero.

Everyone who’s taken any instruction in history while in high school knows the details of the Cuban missile crisis, when the United States and the USSR came to a disagreement over the USSR attempting to build a missile base on the island of Cuba. The world stood at the brink of nuclear war before the two superpowers backed down, with the Soviets giving in to the demands of the United States and backing down. However, the strategy game Cuban Missile Crisis: The Aftermath explores an alternate history, one in which nuclear war did happen. What can we expect from such a game? Let’s take a look:

A Unique Story

In Cuban Missile Crisis: The Aftermath, developer G5 software takes a look at what might have happened in the event of a real nuclear war in the 1960s. The game’s story sets up four distinct military coalitions: the USSR, China, the Franco-German alliance, and the Anglo-American alliance. The idea of the game is that because of the nuclear exchange between the United States and the USSR, the world is forced into a war for land and resources that haven’t been sullied thanks to the nuclear weapons launched. The unique concept of Cuban Missile Crisis: The Aftermath should appeal to both those who like military history and strategy, and those who like games that explore alternate sorts of realities.

Mixing Turn-Based Strategy And Real-Time Fighting

Most strategy games tend to fall into one camp or the other, with respect to whether they engage in turn-based or real-time play. However, Cuban Missile Crisis: The Aftermath manages to combine the two to create a unique hybrid of the two in its game. The turn-based play occurs when moving units on the map, with both you and your opponent taking turns while moving on a map, similar to a game of chess.

It’s when two opposing groups come together that the real-time fighting comes into play. The map view switches to a close-up rendering of the military units, whether they’re air units like jets or ground units like tanks, and the pacing of combat picks up, forcing the player to take direct control of the various units. In general, as with most strategy games, each different unit has an opposing unit that it works well against and one that can destroy it easily. In essence, it’s almost like a more complex version of rock-paper-scissors. For those who enjoy strategy games, though, Cuban Missile Crisis: The Aftermath offers a unique twist on other military strategy games that are based on actual history. For this uniqueness, any strategy game buff should add it to their library.

While the media highlights several cases of identity theft, the odds of a person being a victim are less than being audited by the Internal Revenue Service. Cleaning up your credit report following a theft incident will usually cost less than the cost of an audit and associated charges. Identity theft insurance is one of the fastest growing policies in the business today, and when doing the math, some wonder if the low cost of identity theft insurance policies is worth the annual premiums.

Typically, in cases of identity theft banks, stockbrokers and credit card companies usually cover any charges made in the names of identity theft victims so the losses incurred financially are usually low. The cost comes in the time it takes to contact and correspond with agencies that must be notified in the even of identity theft. Insurance promises to pay for some of the related charges, but the personal aggravation and worry is not calculated into a loss.

It has been estimated that the average victim will take about three weeks cleaning up their credit and about $1,000 to clear their name from banks and other creditors. Some Identity theft insurance policies will pay for lost time from work spent working on clearing the credit file and pay some of the incidental charges such as postage, certified mail and copying documents or the cost of obtaining duplicate copies. Many policies will reimburse lost wages up to $250 a day, but until the problem is cleared up, there will be no payments.

Credit Reports Remain In Shambles

Sellers of Identity theft insurance also promise to pay to help clear judgments issued or criminal records created by someone using another’s identity, but according to reports only about 15 percent of identity theft victims incur this type of cast, which can range from five to $15,000. Considering the odds of being a victim of identity theft is less than one-half of one percent, the cost of the protection could outweigh the benefits.

People who like having that extra layer of protection and choose to pay for Identity theft insurance should understand that it does not cover the anxiety or stress involved in getting your finances back in order. Nor does it automatically take all the negative comments off of the credit reports. Those will have to be done by the victim and will be added to the stress of realizing that someone is claiming to be someone they are not.
